The garden is thriving. The potatoes, peas and zucchini are ready for harvest this week. Our 15 tomato plants seem to double constantly. All are filled with flowers and tiny, green fruit.
The chickens–Sunshine, Goldie, Blackie, Peanut and Brownie miss the children but are otherwise happy. They stuff themselves with their morning corn tortillas and freshly picked greens then munch on organic pellets and oyster shells chips in their coop.
When I come in the evening to put them away, they insist on their daily cuddles and scratches. All take turns sitting on my lap and cluck quietly. Lots of love and trust–and they remain socialized for the children when they return in August.
